It has been a meteoric rise for the first on Hong Kong’s all-time money list according to The Hendon Mob, which Danny Tang leads ahead of Elton Tsang and Winfred Yu. Tsang has the single biggest score to show for after his victory in the €1 Million Big One for One Drop in Monte-Carlo, but Tang pulled ahead in the last two years after an incredible run of six and seven-figure scores.

At thirty-two years of age, Tang reached the pinnacle of high-stakes tournament poker and claimed the Ivan Leow Player of the Year trophy in the iconic Salle des Etoiles at the Monte Carlo Sporting Club during the last Triton stop of the previous season. During the four stops that counted towards the ranking, he cashed in 19 tournaments and reached the final table thirteen times, earning two titles along the way.

He boosted his overall tally to five and has been one of the most accomplished players of the arguably most exciting high-stakes contest in the world of poker. It all began five years ago in Montenegro and Tang was supported by the Triton Poker founders Richard Yong and Paul Phua, who he thanked for their “unwavering support since I first set foot through the Triton doors”.

Tang’s mentor was none other than the late Ivan Leow, after whom the Player of the Year award was named in 2023 in memory of the Malaysian high-stakes player. Until then, Tang had recorded several deep runs during Triton stops but didn’t have any title under his belt.

That would all change in the following two years and especially the stop in Monte-Carlo in November 2023 was very successful. He earned his most recent title in a $50k NLH 8-Handed Event, finished second in the $50k Pot Limit Omaha, and had another two third-place finishes as well as a sixth place on top.

That was the fifth Triton victory in one and half years with the first title coming back in March 2023 during the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Vietnam. During the following stop thereafter in Cyprus, he added another two titles to his resume and followed that up with his fourth triumph later in the same year in London.

It seems to be just a matter of time before the talented Tang will add another major title to his already impressive live poker resume. His 28 WSOP cashes add up to nearly $4.5 million in prize money and he won his maiden gold bracelet back in 2019 after taking down Event #90 $50,000 Final Fifty No-Limit Hold’em in Las Vegas for a staggering $1,608,406.

Five years later, he came agonizingly close to doubling his tally after finishing as the runner-up of Event #79: $50,000 High Roller Pot-Limit Omaha this past summer in Sin City for another seven-figure score worth $1,400,217.

The upcoming series at Atlantis Bahamas fits perfectly on paper for the young rising star with several high-stakes events as part of the 15 WSOP Gold bracelet Events on the schedule. Tang will certainly be gunning for a second title and has been confirmed for Event #2 Triton Million, which features a total of 32 pairings of invitees and poker pros, all of which are required to cough up the $500,000 entry fee. His counterpart is Ferdinand Putra, while another notable Asian pairing includes Kannapong Thanarattrakul and Punnat Punsri.
